Holohoax Part II: Numbers don’t add up

A few weeks ago I wrote about the gas chamber argument used to bash holocaust history. Without the facts being revealed, this approach can really shake someone’s conviction to the prevalent ‘holocaust narrative’, mainly because the arguments sound evidence based, grounded in science and unbiased.

One of the ways that ‘deniers’ generate credibility for themselves is by creating this distance from emotion and politics, as well as using an academic turn of phrase. Calling history a ‘narrative’ and trying to portray our understanding of it as temporal and evolving (‘current’), or even relative (‘prevalent’, ‘dominant’) is an effective and almost bullet-proof tactic. After that, it’s just about choosing which facts to attack…

Ask anyone what comes into their head when you mention the ‘holocaust’ (notice the inverted commas) and it’s the number ‘six million’. Let’s challenge that…

So if there were ‘six million’ Jews killed, how many Jews were there in Europe in the first place? Well, according to Gerhard Riegner, a Secretary of the World Jewish Congress in the 1940s, who sent a famous telegram in 1942 declaring that there were “Jews in countries occupied or controlled by Germany numbering 3½ to 4 millions”.

Not a great start. Even according to the Jewish leadership itself, ‘six million’ never existed, and we know that of these, many moved the UK, US, Palestine to avoid the war. Don’t forget in 1942 Germany already controlled France, Holland and Belgium.

But we can assume he’s wrong because we know that there were ‘six million’ victims by their identities, right?

Excerpt from the Jewish Chronicle’s website

Again, the Jews themselves don’t seem to think so. According to the Jewish Chronicle, we don’t know who 1/3 of the ‘six million’ actually are, 65 years on from the war’s end.

As Lipman points out, the Nazis kept ‘meticulous records’ during the period, but these were conveniently destroyed. How do we know they existed in the first place?

But the plot gets a bit thicker…

Same article

Sixty-five years after the event, with documents destroyed, one million names suddenly appear over the course of six years. How on earth is that possible?

Again, let’s look at Jewish sources, this time Ha’aretz from 2003, which reports that this online database set up by Yad Vashem is editable. So maybe, this is where the one million came from. Give it a few more years and the internet will have generated enough names to fill the ‘six million’.

That doesn’t add up — if we’re saying ‘six million’ were murdered and we’re holding people to account for it — each one of those ‘six million’ should be real and accounted for. Don’t forget this was a war, and people die in war.

We could talk about the numbers for ages, but the ‘six million’ looks like a difficult one to justify. Maybe because of this, it makes people nervous. So nervous in fact, that in a lot of countries, it can’t be questioned.

Questioning the ‘holocaust’ is illegal around the world; in Germany, Israel, France, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, Poland, Luxembourg… does this make sense?

People can go to jail for examining a very opaque period of history.
Think about that for a while.

And then there’s John Demjanjuk…

From Wikipedia

Demjanjuk was convicted and then declared innocent in light of “new evidence that cast reasonable doubt” — what was that?

There was a challenge to Demjanjuk’s identify as Ivan the Terrible. Despite 11 eye witnesses swearing, under oath, that it was him, the court overruled their judgement.

Not even the Israeli Supreme Court believes ‘holocaust survivors’.

This line of argument is much more complicated to unravel than the ‘gas chamber’ thesis, it’s not so much an abuse of facts, than a presentation of selective data and clumsy conclusions.

Firstly, holocaust denial is completely legal in over 180 countries. Yes, there are some countries who are slightly sensitive to denial — but it’s not examination of the facts that puts you in prison, it’s the malicious presentation of non-facts (see above).

Whilst the ‘six million’ is the biggest elephant in the room for us, Adolf Eichmann didn’t seem to have a problem with the number in 1945.

Eichmann on trial in Jerusalem, 1961

According to Eichmann, who was the SS-Obersturmbannführer responsible for organising the holocaust;

“Approximately 4,000,000 Jews had been killed in the various concentration camps, while an additional 2,000,000 met death in other ways, the major part of whom were shot by operational squads of the Security Police during the campaign against Russia.”

Similarly, Rudolf Hoess in his book ‘Commandant of Auschwitz’ admits to the genocide of 2 million Jews at Auschwitz alone:

DR. KAUFFMANN: Is it true that you, yourself, have made no exact notes regarding the figures of the number of those victims because you were forbidden to make them?

HOESS: Yes, that is correct.

DR. KAUFFMANN: Is it furthermore correct that exclusively one man by the name of Eichmann had notes about this, the man who had the task of organizing and assembling these people?

HOESS: Yes.

DR. KAUFFMANN: Is it furthermore true that Eichmann stated to you that in Auschwitz a total sum of more than 2 million Jews had been destroyed?

HOESS: Yes.

So the ‘six million’ retrieves its credibility, but there are still a couple of outstanding questions that came about through the inquiry above.

Notable, those one million names mentioned in the Jewish Chronicle, were they really generated by the Yad Vashem database? Maybe Eichmann and Hoess were fed to them, and regurgitated under duress?

Sadly for revisionists, that’s not the case, the records came from Russia. When some of the camps and Nazi premises were liberated by the Russians in 1944/5, they found and seized records, which Yad Vashem managed to secure in the 2000s after long last. There are apparently more where those came from.

And Demjanjuk? He was convicted by the eyewitness testimony of survivors in 1988, at least 43 years after they could have last seen him, which would have been at a hugely traumatic point in their lives. It’s probably (or should be) impossible to find anyone guilty based only on this evidence, let alone sentenced to death.

No one questions the integrity of these survivors, it’s the integrity that holds it all together.

It’s easy, when we talk about the holocaust to wed ourselves to the headlines without thinking what they really mean. The deniers/revisionists play on this so that without ready evidence for every single event or victim, the defendant is on the back-foot.

I was talking to the late Chaim Ferster a few months before he died. Chaim survived 8 death camps to build a life for himself in England, with a successful business and huge charge to retell his story throughout the UK.

He really didn’t care about the ‘six million’ number:

“Would one million have been any better? Or seven million any worse?”
